LEC Fun Ride 08
MARCH 29, 2008
FIRST ANNUAL SPRING FUN RIDE HELD
Forty- three riders enjoyed a beautiful wilderness challenge trail
ride out of Cane Camp located within Kisatchie National Forest in
Natchitoches Parish on March 29TH. This was Louisiana Equine Council's
(LEC) First Annual Spring Trail Ride. The weather was a bit "iffy" but
that did not dampen the spirits of those coming from Baton Rouge and
surrounding areas to camp out for the weekend and enjoy riding, nature
and fellowship.
The Dogwood Trees were in full bloom and the varying landscapes from
rolling hills, to bluffs, to sandy bottomland made one feel they were
not in flat Louisiana.
Fifty-three enjoyed a delicious Cowboy Stew and Peach Cobbler that was
prepared by Ben D's Chuck Wagon Cooking over open fire. Full and
happy, everyone relaxed and visited and a local musician strung his
guitar and sang to the enjoyment of all.
Two horse buckets and a basket full of various horse items were
raffled off in the early afternoon and many ended their day with
another ride out on the trails.
This was a combined effort by many members of LEC and they all helped
make it a success. The Trails Committee is planning another ride in
the fall, destination to be announced soon.
Thanks to LEC member Peggy Bianchi for organizing this event and doing a great job.
