Louisiana Equine Council Minutes of Executive Committee Meeting

May 6, 2005

A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Louisiana Equine Council was called to order at 10:30 AM, Friday, May 6, 2005, at the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation Boardroom in Baton Rouge. President Bonnie Clark presiding and Secretary Grace Simcoe recording.

Executive Committee Members Present: Bonnie Clark, Grace Simcoe, Deborah Devitt. Absent: Daniel Lyons.

Also present: Ron Harrell, Clint DePew, Henry Bernard.

Mr. Henry Bernard, Attorney of Record for Farm Bureau Federation spoke to the Committee regarding corporate status.

Action Taken:

Corporate Status: A letter of corporate filing was filled out and will be notarized and submitted to the Louisiana Secretary of State by Mr. Ron Harrell. LEC will file as a nonprofit corportation with specific type of nonprofit status to be determined at a later date. Farm Bureau Equine Committee will contribute the $60.00 necessary to file.

Agenda for Next LEC Board of Directors Meeting: An agenda was agreed upon for the next Board of Directors Meeting. Key items to include committee selection/formation, determining dues categories for membership and the importance of the membership committee beginning to take action, setting a date for the 1st Annual General Membership Meeting. Date chosen for next LEC Board Meeting to be held on May 25, 2005 at 10:30 AM at Farm Bureau Building, Baton Rouge.

Discussion and agreement on the need to form a group willing to meet with members of the Louisiana House and Senate Agriculture Committees in order to present the purpose of the LEC and make them aware of LEC’s formation.
